Rugby: Preston re-start as they mean to go on

Preston LODGE made sure the prolonged winter break did not affect them by defeating Hawick Linden 37-6 on Saturday to keep up their National Three promotion push.

The men from East Lothian got off to a flying start with a converted try from Dougie Naismith after just three minutes at the Pennypit. Greg Leith then kicked two penalties before Dougie Thomson scored a superbly worked try to put the home side 18-3 up.

That was the way it stayed until the break and after half-time Nick Marsh's fifth try of the season gave PL even more breathing space at 25-3 to the good and with a bonus point in sight. It came soon after when hooker Marsh claimed his second try of the afternoon and then, after a Linden drop goal, Paul Voy put the seal on things with the last try of the match to make it 37-6.
