Two lorry collision in Borders kills man, 39

ONE man died and another was seriously injured after a head-on collision between two lorries on the main road through the Borders yesterday.

The dead man was 39, while the other victim, a man aged 50, was taken to hospital with "multiple injuries".

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue attended the scene on the A1 at Cockburnspath, south of Dunbar, at about 3am.

Both men were freed from the wreckage by crews using hydraulic cutting gear before the injured man was taken for treatment at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
