Police investigate Dundee flyover incidents

TAYSIDE Police today revealed that the force is now investigating a total of four “life threatening” incidents in which unidentified objects have been thrown from flyovers in to the paths of vehicles on the A90 Dundee to Forfar road .

Yesterday the force began investigations into an incident in which a lorry and car were struck by a heavy object thrown from The Emmock Road flyover crosses Powrie Brae on the outskirts of the city on the Dundee to Forfar stretch of the A90 dual carriageway.

A force spokesman said today it had now been established there were three separate incidents at the flyover on Wednesday night within a short period of time.

And the force is now investigating another incident of “reckless conduct” on Wednesday night on the A90 southbound at the Happas Junction near Forfar

Tayside Police spokesman said:”About 10pm Wednesday an unknown object was recklessly thrown into the path of a dark green Renault Clio travelling southbound near to the Happas junction.

Fortunately this object did not strike the car, however the consequences would have undoubtedly been life threatening. There have been three similar incidents near to the Powrie Brae flyover on the A90 that

evening all within a short space of time.

The seriousness and recklessness of this matter cannot be underestimated and anyone who may have any information regarding this incident or who saw anyone acting suspiciously nearby, should contact Tayside Police.
