Letter: Labour's problem

It is grossly unfair of Derrick McClure (Letters, 11 January) to class all Labour MSPs as "a bunch of political fifth-raters", when many of them are manifestly second- or third-rate.

Nevertheless, the real problem lies outside of their intellectual stature. How can any opposition MSPs purport to serve Scotland's best interests when their primary allegiance must be to the Mother Party at Westminster?
