A total of six officers were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after the fire engine travelling from Ellon to New Deer was involved in an accident on Saturday.

Last night five were released, with the sixth member of the crew, expected to be released today. The vehicle was on its way to help at a road traffic accident in which three people were trapped in a vehicle and waiting to be cut free.

A second fire crew used hydraulics to release the victims, after an accident between a car and a van on the B91703 at New Deer. They were also taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
