Bridge given £5k upgrade

A POPULAR bridge on the Pentland Hills has been upgraded at a cost of almost £5000.

The bridge at Gala Ford, near the Cauldstane Slap and Harperrig Reservoir, is located on the north side of the Pentlands and is a well used route within the Pentland Hills Regional Park.

The bridge repair scheme was organised by volunteers from the Friends of the Pentlands group, with advice and support from engineers at West Lothian Council, who funded some of the repairs.

Councillor Carl John, West Lothian's representative on the Pentland Hills Regional Park Joint Committee, said: "The old bridge was very wobbly and it was only a matter of time before it became unsafe, so we are all delighted with the upgrade and feedback from walkers has been extremely positive."
