Bag-snatcher drags woman along ground

A WOMAN was dragged along the ground by a thief who snatched her handbag as she walked with her husband.

The 54-year-old woman had left the Borough Hotel and was walking north on Causewayside when the suspect grabbed her bag and tried to pull it from her shoulder.

She held on to the bag and fell over, and was pulled a short distance before losing her grip.

Her husband attempted to grab the suspect, but the thief made off down a small alleyway leading from Causewayside to Sciennes following the incident at 12.20am on Sunday.

The suspect is white, early to mid 20s, 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall, with a slim build, short hair, and stubble. He was wearing a white or cream tracksuit.

A police spokesman said: "As well as being left extremely shaken, the victim suffered bruising to her leg as a result of being dragged by the suspect."
