A PRIMARY and a secondary school in the Bucksburn area of Aberdeen were forced to close their doors to pupils today due to a power cut at a nearby electricity substation.

Brimmond School and Bucksburn Academy closed at lunchtime, following the loss of power.

A spokeswoman for Aberdeen City Council said: “Both schools made group calls to parents to advise them of the situation and to ask them to make the necessary arrangements to collect their children from school. A group call was also made to parents of children who attend the afternoon nursery class at Brimmond School that today’s session was cancelled.”

Both schools are expected to reopen on Thursday at the usual time.
