Chivas to axe Paisley site as part of £40m investment

Distiller Chivas Brothers, Pernod Ricard's Scotch whisky and gin business, has announced plans for a £40 million investment at its Kilmalid site in Dumbarton.

The plans will see its sister site in Paisley close in three years’ time with all staff transferring to the Dumbarton site.

The transfer of activities from Paisley to Kilmalid, which will see a purpose-built bottling hall and offices built, is scheduled to start in 2018.

Laurent Lacassagne, chairman and chief executive, said: “Our proposal is the next step towards achieving our leadership ambition and is a clear signal that we see a strong future ahead for both the industry and our business. This investment will enhance and improve our operations and support the development of our global and iconic brands.”

Lacassagne said the plans would provide ample opportunity for staff to “adjust and adapt” to working from a new site.
