Hidden Gems: The Edinburgh Larder

TUCKED away on a side street off the Royal Mile, The Edinburgh Larder is growing in popularity due to its wide selection of delicious, Scottish produce.

The deli and licensed cafe, which opened in November last year, offer a range of sandwiches, soups, quiches, salads and frittatas.

The deli, which is set to be extended, provides a variety of locally-sourced meats and cheeses, from smoked venison to goats' cheese.

For those with a sweet tooth, the cafe's array of homemade cakes – carrot cake and scones with clotted cream and jam are particular favourites – is sure to go down a treat.

Situated on Blackfriars Street, The Edinburgh Larder can seat up to 20 people and also provides a take-away service.

Manager Eleanor Cunningham, 32, said: "A real focus on Scottish produce and local producers is what sets us apart from other places.

"We get our cheeses from all over Scotland and we make our own chutney and jam."

The comfortable, relaxed setting makes The Edinburgh Larder the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat in Edinburgh's historic Old Town.
